the downside of less carrier bags from supermarkets

1st September 2017

In our eco friendly world we are all asked to recycle our plastic bags. the first question any cashier asks is” do you have your own bags?”

I am certainly getting better at taking my own bags and not  caught with the extra cost of plastic bags… however there is a downside to this trend.

As a food bank when we give out emergency supplies of food we don’t ask our recipients if they have their own bags! If fact we actually double bag as so many of the bags are not strong enough for the food we are giving away.

With less bags being used by our donators and the ever increasing need for  emergency food supplies our stock of plastic bags is now at an all time low.

So next time you have any carrier bags spare please think of us and donate them rather than bin them.  Thank you
